The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce hosted another successful Bowl for Kids’ Sake event.

This year was the 43rd annual edition of the event, held on April 15 in three locations. 37 bowling teams, with lanes at The Bowling Alley in Owen Sound, Sunset Family Fun Centre in Port Elgin and Georgian Bowl in Collingwood, all came together to raise almost $37,000. The goal for Big Brothers Big Sisters was to raise $35,000, so they well surpassed the goal.

Donations were collected leading up to the event and an online silent auction was held, as well. The funding will help the 140 children that Big Brothers Big Sisters Grey Bruce serves. The money helps support no-cost mentoring programs, including both in-school mentoring programs and community-based programs for families throughout Grey, Bruce, and Western Simcoe Counties.

The highest pledged team was the Rogers Rollers, who raised over $4,300. Vicky-Lynn Hicks, a longtime supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce, was the highest fundraiser, raising over $3,100. Honourable mentions were given to Mark Perry of Owen Sound who raised over $2,400, Jim Reid of Owen Sound who raised over $2,400 and Kevin Woolham of Collingwood who raised $1,300.
