Another temporary closure will be affecting a local hospital’s emergency department.
The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance says due to ongoing healthcare staffing shortages, the emergency department at the Listowel Memorial Hospital will temporarily close on January 8 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Regular hours will resume following the closure. Patients can still call 911 for medical emergencies and local first responders will take patients to the nearest open local ED. Those locations include Wingham, Palmerston, Kitchener-Waterloo, Stratford and Mount Forest.
For non-urgent medical needs, people can dial 811 and get in contact with Health Connect Ontario, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency medical inquiries.
