Olivia, Noah top Ontario’s list of most used baby names again

If you plan to welcome a new addition to your family soon and haven’t found the right name, perhaps you can find inspiration in Ontario’s list of top ten names for 2021.

The province released the list of the most used baby names in Ontario on Monday.

Not much has changed from last year’s girls list, although Chloe fell from the top ten and Ella moved into the tenth spot.

Olivia maintained its dominance at the top of the list for the 12th consecutive year in 2021. Emma moved up one place, while Charlotte moved down one.

Here are the ten most popular names for baby girls last year in Ontario.

4. Amelia

5. Ava

6. Sophia

7. Isla

8. Evelyn

9. Mia

10. Ella

For boys, the top ten list didn’t change much from 2020. Noah is still the most popular name for the third straight year, followed closely by Liam.

William has appeared in the top ten list since 1917.

If you are expecting a new baby in 2023, the Ontario government reminds new parents to register their child’s birth within 30 days through the 5-in-1 Newborn Bundle online service.

“As a proud father of five children, I know firsthand how much new parents have on their plate,” said Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery Kaleed Rasheed. “With just a single online session, parents can apply for critical documents, like their child’s birth certificate and Social Insurance Number, right from the comfort of their home.”

The website also allows parents to apply for the Canada Child Benefit, including the Ontario Child Benefit and Education Savings Referral service.
