On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Consul General of India, Smt. Apoorva Srivastavaji, visited the Swajan Samanvay Sanatan Centre in Kincardine.
Her visit was prompted by her pleasure with the local Hindu community’s efforts to initiate and enhance cultural and economic development. Srivastavaji was pleased with the Hindu community’s engagement and contribution to society by sharing the ancient rich wisdom of Hindu civilization with fellow Canadians, to strengthen and enrich the Canadian mosaic and pass it on to the next generation so they may take pride, because culture resides in their roots.
She was joined by the Hindu Canadian community as well as Laura Haight, Jan Johnstone, Mike Hinchberger, Watson Morris and three representatives from the County of Bruce. In total, approximately 63 people were in attendance.
Four young people spoke about their contribution to the Centre – Gauri Tokekar, Khushali Shah, Virat Krishna Tripathi and Manu Pulianeth.
“I am extremely honoured to receive appreciation and recognition from youths of the community and leaders for the contribution I have been doing, with their help, to strengthening the Canadian mosaic through love, peace and service,” said event organizer, Chandra Tripathi.
