City establishes partnership to ensure warming stations are available

The City of Owen Sound has partnered with Safe N’ Sound to ensure there are warming stations available during upcoming extreme cold weather.

In a release, the city notes that city facilities that are typically open as warming areas are not available due to COVID-19 restrictions. So, the city has established a partnership with Safe N’ Sound Grey Bruce to extend hours at their facility for people to find shelter from the cold. Safe N’ Sound will operate today until 3:30 p.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and again from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight.

Safe N’ Sound Grey Bruce is located at 310 8th Street East in Owen Sound. Emergency shelter services are provided by the County of Grey through YMCA Housing Services. Those seeking emergency shelter are encouraged to contact YMCA Housing Services at 519-371-9230.
