Applications are now being accepted for funding through Huron County’s Heritage Fund.
Cultural Services Director Beth Rumble says the Heritage Fund was created in 2007 to preserve heritage assets in the county. But she says funding is no longer limited to heritage buildings and physical assets.
“We’ve recently funded projects for podcasts about the history of Huron County, we do publications and cook books and things like that and Huron Perth Junior Farmers did a farm show which was really interesting. So there’s a wide variety of ways that we’re acknowledging and marketing and preserving heritage in Huron County through the fund,” Rumble said.
Rumble says they do require matching funds.
“It is matching funds. Applicants can receive up to $5,000 from the fund. In total we have $25,000 this year to disperse. So if all of that is taken away at this May 1 intake we wouldn’t do a second intake, but if there are funds remaining there will be a second intake on November 1.”
