Strong winds and freezing rain batter Midwestern Ontario

The strong winds are bringing down power lines across the region this morning.

Hydro One  is reporting about 141 customers are in the dark in Gorrie and power won’t be restored until 9 a.m.

There are smaller outages around Wingham, Bluevale, and Belmore. Restoration times there are between 7 and 8 a.m.

You can expect more outages as the storm continues to batter the region throughout the day.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning, predicting about 2 millimetres of accretion and wind gusts to 70 kilometres per hour.

The storm has forced the cancellation of all buses in Huron and Perth and numerous other bus cancellations.
