Midwestern Ontario sees rise in COVID-19 cases

The Grey Bruce Health unit added six new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, three in Chatsworth, and one each in Kincardine, Brockton, and Grey Highlands. There are 35 active cases. Three residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. Currently there is one active outbreak at Vicki’s Sandbox Daycare, in Hanover. 

Huron Perth Public Health added eight new cases. Four in Perth East, three in North Perth, and one in Stratford. There are 34 active cases. Two people are hospitalized with the virus. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added 10 new cases Wednesday, including three in Wellington County. There are 15 active cases in Wellington. One resident is currently hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario is reporting 378 new cases of COVID-19 today, 236 of them in people who aren’t fully vaccinated or whose vaccination status isn’t known. The province is also recording five more deaths from the virus. Nearly 88.3 per cent of eligible Ontarians have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 84.7 percent have two.
