Silver Stick is back this weekend

By Doug Kennedy

It’s great news to hear that the annual Kincardine Silver Stick will be played this weekend in Ripley, Tiverton and Kincardine. There are 27 teams playing over the course of the weekend. During the day on Friday, there are games in all three arenas. The four finals are Sunday afternoon at the Kincardine arena.

The Kincardine U13 LL2 team had Rogers TV visit the Davidson Centre last Saturday to film part of a practice. The team will be part of the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup on Rogers TV this Saturday night. They are being showcased because of the work they did in helping collect hockey equipment for Indigenous communities in northern Manitoba.

The Ripley Wolves won the first two games of their playoff series, against the Shelburne Muskies.

On Friday night at home, they won 7-1. Dan Nicoloff and Cody Britton had two goals each, to lead the way. Singles went to Chase Meurs, Garrett Meurs and Hunter Robin Gibbons.

On Saturday night the Wolves won 6-2 in Shelburne. Garrett Meurs led the way with three goals and two assists. Single goals went to Brett Catto, Cody Britton and Dan Nicoloff. Britton added three assists in the game.

Jason Hamilton was solid in net for both games. The third game is this Friday in Ripley at 8:30 p.m.

On the opening weekend for the Bulldogs, they defeated Goderich 3-2 and tied Wingham 2-2.

On Friday night at home, Jordan Beisel, Grant Stevens and Jeffrey Fritzley all had one goal each.

On Saturday night, Carter Servsais and Kyle Dolmage each scored in the 2-2 tie. Ryan Litt had two assists.

Ryan Tanner played solid in net in both games. This weekend they are in Wingham Friday night and in Mitchell on Saturday night.
