Owen Sound police have taken a 37-year-old man into custody after a bank was robbed over the weekend.
On Saturday, police say a man wearing a mask entered a bank and gave a handwritten note to a teller. The note demanded cash be handed over, or else some sort of “serious bodily harm” would ensue, according to police.
Then, police say the suspect was given a quantity of cash before fleeing the bank on foot.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
“The Owen Sound Police Service will not be disclosing the quantity of cash taken or the specific bank involved,” Sergeant Craig Matheson confirmed.
Owen Sound patrol officers and members of the Criminal Investigations Branch were able to identify and arrest the suspect within three hours of the robbery.
Police say James Boehmer of no fixed address was located at a residence near the bank. Officers seized cash and other stolen items.
Boehmer has been charged with robbery, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, making threats, and possession of stolen property.
The accused remains in custody after appearing in bail court on Sunday morning.
