McCollum reintroduces Boundary Waters bill
Saying the steps the Biden administration took to bar mining in the Superior National Forest are not permanent, Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) on Tuesday reintroduced a bill that would offer permanent protections. While U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has the authority to impose the mining moratorium in the Superior National Forest for a maximum of 20 years, subject to renewal, only Congress can legislate a permanent withdrawal.
