After a weekend of sunshine and plenty of heat, residents across southwestern Ontario may want to consider staying indoors Monday afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for almost all the counties in the south of the province.
Monday’s high is expected to reach 28 C but will feel like 36 C with the humidity across most parts of the region.
Local rainfall amounts have increased in range from 15 to 25mm to 20-40mm, while wind gusts could reach up to 90 km/h.
The weather agency warns that water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water and the possibility of lightning strikes. It’s recommended to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
