NASA’s Minority University Research and Education Project Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry has awarded a grant to a multi-institution project led by Texas State University to study the vulnerability of the Lake Huron ecosystem to global change. A lack of state funding to help Minnesota homeowners clean up mold, asbestos and other hazards is limiting the reach of federal weatherization programs in the state, preventing some of those most in need from accessing benefits.
Earlier this month, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society (GLSHS) announced the discovery of the wreck of the Atlanta, a schooner-barge that sank in Lake Superior in 1891.
