Mayor Janice Jackson announced the new rules on her Facebook page in October, noting that problems with loud parties by short-term renters had become a nuisance, and hoped the new licensing system, including a one-time $300 registration fee and an annual license fee of $500, would at least quote-“make owners think twice about who they’re renting to”.
Licensing applications received by the municipality will not be reviewed until November 15th.
A release from South Bruce Peninsula also notes that sheds and bunkies are not permitted to be used as short-term rental accommodations.
