Grey Bruce Public Health says barriers to booking vaccination appointments have been resolved in the region.
There are about 27,000 people in Grey Bruce still needing their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccine is available through daily clinics across Grey Bruce, both walk-in and by appointment.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit has a goal to get everyone vaccinated before the end of July. Having everyone vaccinated would make Grey Bruce one of the first jurisdictions to achieve heard immunity.
“We are encouraging anyone who may have a second vaccine appointment for a later date to step up and get the vaccine as soon as they can,” said Dr. Ian Arra, Medical Officer of Health for Grey and Bruce. “We have the vaccine available and the clinics to deliver. With everyone’s participation, we can complete the mass immunization campaign by the end of July.”
The Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak associated with Bobi’s Play School located in Meaford. Two confirmed cases have been identified with this outbreak.
The individuals with COVID-19 have been contacted directly by the COVID-19 Case and Contact Management Team. All contact tracing and determination of individual and community risk is made by Public Health.
There were 13 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed Monday with 12 in Owen Sound and one in South Bruce Peninsula.
There are currently 188 active cases and 351 active high-risk contacts.
